The STEAC Food Project has very low overhead. We are a volunteer-run organization, but we need funds for purchasing green bags, "thank you/reminder" cards, and information for signing up new donors.

As the STEAC Food Project grows, we've found that we need more help. You might find that you’d like to do more than just donating food. Take a look at this list and see if there's something else you'd enjoy doing. Then contact us by completing our Volunteer Form at the bottom of this page.

    1. Helping at the Food Collection site. On Pickup Day, volunteers pitch in at the Food Collection site, accepting, sorting and stocking the food delivered. It's an exciting, celebratory atmosphere. Volunteers generally work in 2- or 3-hour shifts. Pickup Day is the 2nd Saturday of each even month.
    2. Emergency Pick Ups. Every once in a while a Neighborhood Coordinator gets ill, is out of town, or just plain needs assistance on Pickup Day. So we need a list of people we can call on to pick up food in a pinch. (You need to have a vehicle for this.)
    3. Sharing Skills. Got a special skill or interest you'd like to share? We can probably use it! Writing, editing, web site, photography …you name it. Just let us know what you can (or would like to) do. We'll find a place for it!
    4. Information Sessions. STEAC Food Project volunteers would love to meet with your church group, social group, work group, or club and talk about our program. We believe in the project and want to get the word out.
    5. Sponsorship. Help us defray the little costs we have by sponsoring our Green Bags, Thank-you cards, or our web site. Your logo can be added to any of our materials.
